One of Mondo’s most exciting (and effective) internet marketing techniques is something we like to call “Google Domination”. Basically, we get your business onto the first page of Google’s search results – a highly profitable proposition for businesses that depend on new customers.
How is it done?
Let’s use a plumbing company as an example: Bob’s Plumbing. When someone searches “Cleveland plumber” in Google, there are three ways to get Bob’s Plumbing on the first page of results.
- PPC (pay per click). This is paid advertising that shows up at the top or in the sidebar of the search results. PPC is great because you can geo-target potential customers and the campaigns are very flexible.
- Online Directories. This is the list of businesses, incorporated into Google Maps, that typically shows up after PPC ads. Besides Google’s directory, there are dozens and dozens of other directories where Bob’s can have a presence, including niche plumbing directories. Online reviews (through Google, Yelp, Angieslist, etc.) are hugely impactful in this area.
- Natural Results. These are the plain ‘ol web pages that show up in search results. An official web page (www.bobsplumbing.com) is a must, followed by online press releases, blog posts, videos and articles produced especially for Bob’s Plumbing.
There is a lot more to it, but that’s the idea in a nutshell. Ask your friends: do they go to the closet, unearth that giant telephone book and thumb through the Yellow Pages if they’re looking for a plumber? Or do they go online and type in “[your town] plumbers”? If you’re still spending good money on traditional, outdated advertising, you might want to consider “Google Domination”.
